School Rep Training and Parent Enrichment Program: A major component of BBFA’s community outreach is the training of volunteers representing the parent organizations in all public, private and parochial elementary, middle and high schools in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills. These monthly educational sessions focus on a variety of parenting issues including substance abuse awareness, self-esteem issues, family communication, health and the promotion of effective policies and programs for parents, teachers and students within each individual school community. All meetings are free and open to the public.
BBFA Annual Event: Each year our Annual Event features a speaker addressing issues that are important to you, as parents, and to our community. In March 2007, Dr. David Walsh President and Founder of Media and the Family presented to over 400 parents in the community.
Connections: We publish our newsletter four times a year. Your subscription is a benefit of membership. The October issue carries drug education information to over 17,000 families with school-age children in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills. Copies of subsequent issues are mailed only to BBFA members. Keep informed on what is happening in your community.
Resource Library: BBFA has a resource library full of videos, books and information that is available to anyone in the community. The information provides indepth information related to prevention, addiction and information on specific drugs, tobacco and alcohol.
